Separate now from later
Pick a single container for the next few days: clothes, toiletries, medication, chargers, basic dishes and important documents. Keep it out of the packing pile. Then pack the least-used shelf or drawer first, leaving the daily zones functional.
Pack by use, not just by room
Label boxes with both the destination room and a short contents category, such as 'bedroom / spare linens'. Put heavy books in small boxes and lighter textiles in larger ones. Fill gaps so contents do not shift, but keep each box at a weight you can lift without strain.
Photograph tricky setups
Before disconnecting a lamp or work corner, take a quick photo of cable routing and shelf arrangement. Keep screws in a labeled bag attached securely to the furniture part they belong to, without scratching the finish. Check manufacturer instructions before dismantling any piece.
Plan the first hour in the new room
Choose one box to open first with clean bedding, a towel, basic cleaning supplies and a lamp. Keep tools needed for assembly accessible, not at the bottom of an unmarked crate. Clear the walking route before placing furniture; the fastest unpacking plan is one that keeps the space usable.
